This course teaches your dog to use their nose to locate a particular odor. We will be using a variety of essential oils that are pet-friendly. Scent work provides mental stimulation for your dog while teaching them a new skill. Scent work can be done in a variety of locations.
You will learn about olfaction and how it applies to scent work, how to imprint your dog and build their alert.
Your dog MUST be current on all vaccines to participate in this course.
Equipment needed for the course:
Flat collar
6ft leash
High-value reward (food/toy)
Ragnar Defense will provide the equipment for the scent work.
No dog is too big or small! Dogs must be 8 months old or older.
After completion of the Beginner course, an Intermediate course will be offered.
This course consists of the basics of trailing, odor theory, and the principles of training a trailing dog. You will learn how to handle and read your dog's behavior while trailing.
Trailing is both mentally and physically stimulating for your dog. It is also a fun way to build confidence in you as a handler and create a working bond with your dog.
Your dog MUST be current on all vaccines to participate in this course.

Ragnar Defense can provide harnesses and longlines for an additional cost. ($50)
At the end of the course, you and your dog will be able to trail a 10-15 minute warm trail or more.
